Welcome to Summer Conference Housing at Stony Brook University. The University provides comfortable and affordable housing arrangements in state of the art residence hall facilities for individuals and groups who are participating in Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and meetings at Stony Brook and the surrounding area.
Summer Conference houses Middle and High School aged students who usually reside on our campus for an extended period of time. The programs offered vary from academic to cultural experiences. The facilities offered to these programs are physically separated from one another and there is strict supervision of Conference Housing guests under the age of 18.
All of our Conference Housing units are staffed by both professional and student staff on a 24/7 basis. The ratio of Conference Assistants to students are 10 to 1. All staff has undergone a criminal background check (including a check of the New York State Sexual Offender Registry) and is trained in first aid, CPR and use of an AED.
Summer Conference and Guest Housing is available from the beginning of June through the first week of August. This year Conference Housing reservations will be accepted between June 2, 2014 through August 8, 2014.
Our rates vary depending on the conference. Housing fee includes furnished room and cable and internet connection. If you are a participant in a group that is living in Conference Housing and are interested in registering for Conference Housing, please visit the following links:
The campus dining facilities are open at the Student Union from 8:00AM to 11:00PM and the Student Activities Center from 8:00AM to 6:00PM. We offer a variety of food options including Halal, Kosher, Vegetarian, Vegan, and allergen-free food. For more information visit www.campusdining.org. *It is mandatory that all conference youth students have a meal plan. The daily minimum meal plan cost per person is $14 although it is strongly recommended that Conference Housing participants register for $20 - $25 in meal plan monies daily.
The Conference Housing Program is working to schedule a series of optional excursions for high school aged Youth Program residents who do not leave campus each weekend. These excursions would be self funded by the participant or their parent/guardian and would be fully supervised by the Conference Housing staff. Examples of excursions could include:
- Riverhead Aquarium and Marine Sciences Center
- Minor League Baseball game
- Movies at a local Cinema
- Ice skating at a local rink
- Nature hikes
- Local shopping
Participation in these excursions would require submission of a separate parental/guardian consent form and payment of the published fee for each event the student is planning to attend. The Conference Housing Program reserves the right to restrict any student from participating in an off campus excursion if prior behavior has been an issue. Please check back on this site periodically for more information. As plans are finalized, specific excursion information including dates, locations and costs will be furnished to all Summer Youth Program residents and their parent/guardian.
