The speaker series is organized by: 

Amy Cook, Associate Professor in English and Theatre Arts and Graduate Director in the Department of Theatre Arts at Stony Brook. She specializes in the intersection of cognitive science and theories of performance and early modern drama. She has essays forthcoming in The Oxford Handbook of 4e Cognition and The Cambridge Companion of Shakespeare’s Language. She is currently working on a monograph, Building Character: The Art and Science of Casting.

Daniel Irving, a doctoral candidate in the English Department at Stony Brook whose research interests include narrative theory, second-generation cognitive science, and the contemporary novel. He previously studied at Queens College and Binghamton University.

David Rodriguez, a doctoral candidate in the English Department at Stony Brook. His dissertation research focuses on theories of description and instances of bird's-eye view description in the American novel.
