ASCE Student Chapter Pinning Ceremony

“Pinning Ceremony” Recognizes Establishment of ASCE Student Chapter. On February 26, 2015 Civil Engineering students at Stony Brook University and the Metropolitan Section of ASCE hosted a “Pinning Ceremony” to formally recognize the establishment of the student chapter of ASCE.  The ceremony was held in the “The Chapel” of the Wang Center on the Stony Brook University campus. The student chapter of ASCE at Stony Brook University was officially recognized by ASCE on September 14, 2014. Attendees at the event included Joseph Bolos, P.E, President of the Metropolitan Section of ASCE, Anthony Cioffi, P.E, the ASCE Region 1 Governor, Rafiq Chowdhury, Treasurer of the MET section and Practioner Advisor to the student chapter, other members of the ASCE Metropolitan Section and Long Island Branch, Dr. William Worek, Associate Dean, College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Dr. Harold Walker, P.E., Professor and Director of Civil Engineering and Faculty Advisor of the ASCE Student Chapter,  Civil Engineering Faculty and Staff, Marianna Savoca, Director of the Career Center, parents, representatives from a number of civil engineering companies, and other friends of civil engineering at Stony Brook University. Rafiq Chowdhury served as host for the event and introduced speakers, which included President Bolos, Dr. Worek, Dr. Walker, Morgan DiCarlo, President of the ASCE Student Chapter, and Anthony Cioffi. Anthony Cioffi presided over the pinning ceremony, in which each student member of ASCE was given an ASCE pin.
