David Ferguson
Principal Investigator
David Ferguson is a Distinguished Service Professor and Chair of the Department of
Technology and Society at Stony Brook University. He is a recognized leader in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics education with a strong commitment to achieving
minority access and excellence in STEM disciplines. This was acknowledged in 1997
when Ferguson received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics,
and Engineering Mentoring. His leadership, commitment and ability to provide the resources
and leadership on campus, state and national levels are important to this project's
chances for success. He currently directs the NSF SUNY LSAMP, SUNY AGEP, S-STEM, and
CSEMS Programs and is formally linked to a number of other diversity initiatives on
the Stony Brook campus.

Angel Gonzalez
Program Manager
Angel Gonzalez is a Program Manager at the Center for Inclusive Education. He is
responsible for several of the CIE core programming and activities such as the Keeping
it Real Series, Community of Student Mentors, and outreach to minority students and
scholarly activities in STEM education. His research interests include how the experience
of discrimination can impact thinking and emotion; and the concerns that members of
historically marginalized groups may have about being rejected by fellow in-group
members. During his time as a graduate student at Stony Brook, Angel was very active
within the campus community serving in numerous capacities such as: Vice President
of the Graduate Student Organization, Chair of the GSO Social Concerns Committee,
and member of the Student Life, Campus Environment, and University Senate committees.
Angel received his Ph.D. in Social/Health Psychology from Stony Brook University in
2012.
