Bridge to the Doctorate Application Process
Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at Stony Brook in order to receive Bridge to the Doctorate funding. Should you be selected as a Bridge to the Doctorate Fellow, you will be required to participate in an ongoing series of academic enrichment, professional development, and social support programs and activities designed to help you to transition into and successfully complete a STEM doctoral program. Application Checklist: For best consideration, each of the following items must be received by the CIE office by the application deadline:
1) Completed online application form
2) Personal Statement: 1 to 2 page statement describing your educational and professional development plans and career goals. How do you envision graduate school preparing you for a career that allows you to contribute to expanding scientific understanding as well as broadly benefit society? 3) Research Statement: 1 to 2 page statement describing an original research topic that you would like to pursue in graduate school. Describe the research idea, your general approach, as well as any unique resources that may be needed for accomplishing the research goal. Click here for more information on preparing this statement.
