The Building Performance Institute, Inc., (BPI) is the nation's premier building performance credentialing, quality assurance, and national standards setting organization.  BPI supports the development of a highly professional building performance industry through individual and organizational credentialing and a rigorous quality assurance program.  Individuals that have been trained, tested, and certified to BPI's nationally recognized standards use the house-as-a-system approach to improving the performance of existing homes - an approach proven to reduce homeowner annual utility bills by as much as 20% or more. That is why

 BPI standards or equivalent are cited by the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program from the Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as several state Weatherization Assistance programs.

BPI Accreditation for Your Business

More and more federal, state, and local energy efficiency and weatherization programs require contractors to be BPI Accredited businesses. BPI requires BPI Accredited companies to employ a minimum of one full-time Building Analyst and one full-time employee with specialty designation, such as Envelope Professional or Heating Professional. These designations can be held by the same individual.
