Agile projects cope with a business environment filled with constant change through enhanced communication, close collaboration between project stakeholders, iterative development, adaptive planning and teams that are largely self-organizing. Scrum is the most widely approach for conducting agile projects.
This workshop enables participants to learn and practice Agile Project Management principles and methods and to adapt them to individual business environments. Scrum practices are discussed in detail, including the concept of self-organizing teams, Scrum roles (including Scrum Master and Project Owner) sprint planning tracking, and tools for defining and measuring progress (the definition of “done”). The skills needed to build and foster effective communication, collaboration and accountability, within cross-functional teams are stressed.
Upon completion, participants involved with PMI® and the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) program, are awarded 8 PDUs or “Contact Hours”. The workshop follows, reinforces and is compliant with the IIBA® BABOK® (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge).

Upon completion of this workshop, each participant will be able to:
- Understand and the rationale for Agile Project Management and Scrum, and apply Agile values and principles;
- Use fundamental Scrum practices such as Sprint planning meetings, Product Backlogs, Sprint Backlogs, Burn Down Charts, Sprint Review Meetings and Sprint Retrospective Meetings
- Understand how PMI concepts apply to Agile projects;
- Decide whether to use Agile methods;
- Choose the Agile methods appropriate for a particular project and tailor them to suit the needs of the organization and the participants;
- Understand and fill the Scrum roles, including Scrum Master and Product Owner;
- Understand how to preform effectively on self-organizing Scrum teams;
- Formulate and communicate a clear project vision;
- Write and estimate User Stories;
- Plan entire projects and individual project iterations, including Sprint Backlogs, Work Breakdown Structures, timeboxing and other tools for planning project work;
Instructional methods for this one-day course are lecture, discussion, detailed case study workshops and presentations. Upon request, discussion of the PMBOK, BABOK and in-house Standards and Policies can be included in the program.
