Communication Skills for Career Success

In today's global economy, successful communication skills are vital.  The ability to converse clearly and effectively is critical.  Accent modification embraces cultural diversity in the workforce while facilitating clarity in verbal communication.

Course Description:

Success largely depends upon one's ability to communicate clearly and effectively.  "It's not what you say - but how you say it."  Have your message be understood the first time you say it.  Accent modification is a method designed to help speakers improve the clarity and accuracy of their spoken American English.

This 2-hr workshop is an overview and will focus on several steps required to replace existing speech habits with new habits. Develop clear, effective communication skills.  Attendees will acquire strategies to reduce a foreign accent or regional dialect through changes in sound pronunciation, rhythm, intonation patterns and grammar. Vocal quality and projection will also be addressed.

Instructor:

Anne Marie Strauss M.S., CCC-SLP, Founder and President of iSpeak Clearly is a New York State Licensed Speech – Language Pathologist with over 20 years of extensive experience. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and has achieved the ACE Award for Continuing Education from ASHA. She is a New York State Certified Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped and a Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language –Certified Accent Modification Trainer. Ms. Strauss is an LDS Preferred Trainer and brings innovative and creative methods to the corporate setting. Her experience includes working with individuals in a variety of fields, including finance, technology, journalism, human resources, sales, manufacturing, medicine and management. As a certified accent modification trainer, she customizes her instruction to the needs of each individual in order to maximize outcomes.
