Dr. Sacha Kopp, Professor of Physics, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Sacha Kopp began as the 5th dean of the College of Arts and Sciences on August 11, 2014. Dr. Kopp earned his bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in physics from the University of Chicago. His research specializes in the physics of elementary particles, the basic forces of nature, and the use of laboratory experiments to answer questions about cosmology and the early universe. He has authored over 200 scholarly articles. Before coming to Stony Brook, Dr. Kopp served on the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin where he was also Associate Dean in the College of Natural Sciences, the largest of the colleges at UT.
