Dean's External Advisory Council 

Members of the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s External Advisory Council represent some of the College’s most distinguished and successful alumni. They are highly regarded and well-respected leaders from diverse fields who value the importance of a solid liberal arts education in today’s fast paced and ever changing world.

Members of the Dean’s External Advisory Council work together to help the College strengthen its ties with alumni, the community and corporate leaders. They support the University’s activities as a whole and encourage fellow alumni and friends to become engaged in meaningful ways with the University’s heart and soul, its College of Arts and Sciences. They enrich the educational experience for today’s student body by utilizing connections for internships, sharing real world advice, and providing professional mentoring and employment opportunities. 

Collectively, they are some of the University’s most dedicated and active alumni. They add great value to the College by elevating its presence and success and by helping to secure the resources needed to promote its mission of excellence in teaching, research and education.

Mission

The Dean’s External Advisory Council is committed to increasing the visibility and awareness of the College of Arts and Sciences and to promoting opportunities for its faculty and students. It provides valuable intellectual and financial support and advice to the Dean. In supporting the Dean’s vision and areas of priority, the Council elevates both the presence and success of the College of Arts and Sciences and Stony Brook University locally and throughout the world.
