MBA Program: Curriculum

The Stony Brook MBA Program includes a 60-credit program and 48-credit program. Students with at least five years' relevant work experience may qualify for the 48-credit program. Students in both programs are required to complete core courses, plus elective courses in an area of concentration.

The 60-credit MBA curriculum comprises 18 three-credit courses plus a six-credit group project (MBA 521). Within the 18 three-credit courses, students take 11 required core courses plus 7 electives. Students in the 60-credit program are also required to complete an internship (MBA 599). Students in the 60-credit program typically complete their internship or participate in a study abroad program in the summer between the first two years.

The 48-credit MBA curriculum includes 15 three-credit courses plus a three-credit group project (MBA 522). Within the 15 three-credit courses, students take 11 required core courses plus 4 electives, all of which must be in one area of concentration.

*The MBA in Accounting program requires 18 to 21 credits of prerequisite accounting classes.  Students will not be able to progress in this program until the prerequisites have been met.  If you would like to have your transcripts reviewed for an assessment of what classes you may still need to take.

**Health Care Management can be taken either as a concentration (4 classes) or as an advanced-certificate program (6 classes); the latter requires a separate application.
