Welcome From Michael Kamins PhD, Director of Research at the College of Business at Stony Brook University
The College of Business at Stony Brook University is not yet ten years old, but in that short time our faculty’s research has made significant theoretical and practical impacts in every business discipline. Academic research in the College of Business is rigorous and relevant to both the business and academic communities. That is, we conduct academic research that is grounded in solid theory and that addresses practical problems that management faces.
Whether it is a focus on how one’s construal of the time horizon impacts investment decisions or the understanding of the impact of consumer and employee perceptions of a company on its future profits, our research provides practical solutions for business problems, which is especially important in times of economic uncertainty.
The College of Business is proud to announce that our research faculty has grown by eight new members this past year, including two with joint appointments in the Department of Economics. Our new faculty members have doctoral degrees from the University of Michigan, the University of Virginia, the University of Colorado, Boston University, Tulane University, the University of Rochester, the University of Moscow, and Stony Brook University. These individuals join a solid core of existing research focused faculty and represent our commitment to grow the business school in the near future to extend our research footprint and impact.
