Mr. Laks has over fourteen years experience working in the field of public accounting. He joined AVZ as a Tax Manager in November 2006 and was promoted to Principal in 2008.He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Relay for Life and the Long Island Exporter/Importer Association.
Mr. Laks has experience in the partnership, corporate and individual tax arena and has dealt with various state tax issues as well. He has international tax experience and has dealt with both inbound and outbound transactions and the tax effect of the applicable tax treaty.
Mr. Laks has experience dealing with various types of industries such as Real Estate, Construction, Manufacturing and Wealth Management. He has also made numerous presentations on the tax implications of the Health Care Reform Act to various banks, business groups and the NYSSCPA. Mr. Laks also is an Adjunct Professor at Stony Brook University teaching a course on Taxation of Business Entities.
Mr. Laks holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Queens College and a Master of Science in Taxation from Baruch College.

Each year a College of Business graduating student is selected to be the recipient of the Dean's Choice Award. The selected student will deliver the COB Department Convocation Address and receive a $1,000 award. This is a great opportunity to address the College of Business graduating class, family members, friends, faculty and staff. Both undergraduate and MBA students who are participating in the May 21 College of Business department convocation are invited to apply for this prestigious honor.
Speeches should be no more than 3 minutes. Speech submissions are due by 4:00 pm on Friday April 17, 2015. A winner will be selected by a committee of College of Business faculty and staff.

Center for Behavioral Finance launches website: The Center for Behavioral Finance at Stony Brook University brings together researchers from different disciplines to conduct research in behavioral finance. We aim at producing cutting-edge research in all fields of behavioral finance and (financial) decision making, mostly using experiments, publishable in top-tier journals in finance, judgment and decision making and psychology.
