The Residence Hall

This modern Residential Village offers two- and three-bedroom apartments to meet individual living styles and needs. Every unit has at least one private bath, a kitchen — including a full-sized refrigerator, a stove top, and microwave oven — and a common area that includes a dining and study area.

Each bedroom affords residents their own desk and chair, bed, dresser and individual closet. Every unit comes equipped with an HVAC control panel, allowing occupants to adjust central air and heat settings to their personal comfort.

The lounge/common living space is comfortably furnished with couches, chairs, and sufficient space for informal gatherings. Every suite is equipped with cable TV and (optional) telephone hookups. Wired and wireless Internet access is available throughout the residence hall.

Surrounding the residence hall are volleyball and basketball courts, athletic fields and designated areas for barbecuing and other recreational activities.

Staffing
The residence hall will be staffed by one or more full-time professional staff members (residence hall directors) assisted by several resident assistants (student staff). Staff are trained to help foster a positive community environment and work with residents to develop a wide range of programs and activities to help enhance the on-campus experience. They will also ensure that there is a safe environment and that residents comply with all federal, state, local and campus policies. Staff will provide emergency coverage Monday to Friday, from 5 pm to 9 am and 24/7 on weekends. They will be available weekdays in their offices between 9 am and 5 pm.

Health and Safety
A Campus Safety Officer will be on duty at the entrance to the residence hall 24/7. Only individuals with proper ID are permitted into the buildings. Security cameras are situated throughout the residence hall and the exterior doors are accessible only by electronic access cards.

Dowling College’s campus safety officers are trained to provide for the safety and protection of all individuals on campus, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Officers are trained in a variety of emergency response procedures, including CPR/AED and First Aid. The campus is located 8 miles from Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.
