Suggested Semester Schedule
For Biology Majors with a MATH ASSESSMENT LEVEL of 1

Math Assessment Level 1 gives the student access to MAP 101: Fundamentals of Arithmetic and Algebra. This course may or may not be offered in a given year.

If MAP 101 in NOT offered then a student with a Math Assessment Level of 1 should register for MAP 103. Such a student may need tutoring in order to succeed. In case MAP 101 is NOT offered then the student should follow the Suggested Semester Schedule for Level 2+ and 2.
If MAP 101 is offered then a student with a Math Assessment Level of 1 should start by taking this course and follow the Suggested Semester Schedule below.

Advice: A student with a Math Assessment Level of 1, who can complete MAP 101 and MAP 103 during the summer before starting at SBU, will be caught up with the standard suggested semester schedule from the first semester of the Freshman Year. It is HIGHLY recommended that such a student tries to follow this advice.

On this page and other pages containing recommendations regarding suggested semester schedules it is important to realize that it is possible to vary from such a schedule. For example, a BIO Major is able to take Advanced Level BIO courses at the same time as this student is finishing the Introductory Biology courses - as long as pre- and co-requisites for these courses have been met.
