FIRST SEMESTER WARNING –Fall 2013 was your first semester at Stony Brook.
Your academic standing is FIRST SEMESTER WARNING if you earned a first-semester GPA less than a 2.0. Please be aware that an advising block has been placed on your record.
In order to return to Stony Brook for the Spring 2014 semester, you are required to discuss your academic standing with your assigned advisor in the Academic and Transfer Advising Services Office.
Shortly after the academic standing remark of First Semester Warning is placed on your record in early January, you will be contacted by an academic advisor specifically assigned to you to help you understand your academic standing level and identify strategies to improve your future academic performance. Students may meet with their assigned advisor during the dates and times listed below (no appointment necessary, just walk-in), or by scheduling an appointment with their advisor at another mutually agreed upon date/time.
While we do offer an Academic Standing Online Information Session (click here) that students on First Semester Warning are welcome to review, doing so will not result in the academic hold being removed from students’ records. Students must follow-up with their assigned advisor to have the hold removed.
