Endless opportunity. Inspired collaboration. The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) is excited to start a new academic year with Stony Brook University as a Mount Sinai Health System research partner.

The convergence of engineering and medicine is a major research thrust within CEAS and by leveraging this research partnership between Stony Brook University and Mount Sinai,CEAS researchers will be able to expand their focus on disciplines at the core of medical research.

Through this new partnership CEAS envisions greater opportunity for collaboration in areas such as biomedical engineering, informatics, computer science, and applied mathematics, to name a few.

Described as a “milestone” for both institutions, the partnership will likely increase the availability of drugs and devices currently being studied and it will increase the expansive training programs for all associated medical professionals.

Currently, CEAS is involved in a number of medical research projects centered around cancer, heart disease, neuro-engineering, medical imaging, medical devices, and drug development. To this partnership, CEAS brings extensive experience in the field, 5,000+ of the country’s best students, and critical resources available in over 20 research-focused centers and institutes.

To learn more about the research being conducted by over 150 CEAS faculty, visit the CEASwebsite. It is expected that the Mount Sinai partnership will be as fruitful as CEAS’ partnerships with Brookhaven National Laboratory and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

A formal agreement, announced August 10, 2016, states that SBU and Mount Sinai will collaborate on research projects, medical education and clinical trials. Read Newsday’s articleabout the new SBU and Mount Sinai research partnership.
