VI. Challenge Exam

The China Studies Program offers the Chinese Language Challenge Exam in Fall and Spring semesters. This exam is designed for students who wish to be exempt from the University Foreign Language Requirement or who wish to receive credits for any of the Chinese language courses that are offered by the Chinese Language Program. It consists of five sections: listening comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, composition, and interpretation of literature.

Date, time and location information are announced at the beginning of each semester. Students are given 2 hours to complete the exam. Please bring the following to the exam: 

  • student id
  • application form (with academic advisor's signature)
  • receipt of payment ($50 for Language Skills; $50 per credit for any language course)
  • a no.2 pencil

The exam results will be available in 7-10 business days.
