What have you been doing since you left Stony Brook?
I am just finishing up a post doc with David Baker at the University of Washington in Seattle. During my post doc I developed a computer model for designing proteins and we have spent the last 2 years testing the model. The project has been particularly fun because it involves a mix of experimental and computational studies.

What is your present position?
I have just accepted a job as assistant professor in the biochemistry department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

What are some the things you remember about your experience as a member of the Stony Brook Chemistry Department?
My best memories from graduate school center around my interactions with other students and faculty. It is a terrific opportunity to meet people from around the world. I was impressed with the amount of student faculty contact that goes on at Stony Brook. I always felt free to go talk with faculty.

What advice would you give to a student going to graduate school today?
I would give the same advice that I often find I need to remind myself of - that is to have fun with the science.
