Three-Day Short Courses College Teachers

Professional Education Program - Outreach in the State University of New York at Stony Brook has participated in the Chautauqua Three-Day Short Courses College Teachers for nearly 20 years and believes that it makes an important contribution to the improvement of U.S. undergraduate education in the sciences, as evidenced by the overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and their supervisors.

For the year 2008, Stony Brook University will offer eight short courses spanning the natural and social sciences. Five will be offered at our Manhattan campus to take advantage of the range of resources available there, and one course will be offered on Stony Brook’s main campus, on the north shore of Long Island. A course on women and minorities in science will be held in Washington D.C., and a political science course will be held in Beijing to give participants an opportunity to meet with senior Chinese security officials and diplomats.
