How to apply for your scholarship

Girls and Boys ages 12-14 from Suffolk County who are motivated, possess an aptitude for, and are eager to learn about our natural resources, while experiencing the exhilaration obtained from an extensive outdoor centered program are encouraged to register. The following recruitment plans will be implemented to encourage under-represented students (Suffolk County residents only) for scholarships.

  • Scholarships will be offered to those who are currently receiving temporary public assistance through the Department of Social Services.
  • If you prefer to work with other "not-for-profit" agencies or public service organizations that would be willing to sponsor a camper based on economic need, i.e., Kiwanis, Rotary, Churches, fish and game clubs, Audobon, Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, etc., if you let us know, we will be happy to contact those agencies to have you join our camp program.
  • Scolarship applicants (ages 12-14) must have interest in and love for an Environmental Education Camps.
  • The Scholarship applicant/camper will be required to submit an essay. This is no test. We just would like to get an idea of the camper's vision/ objective to attend our Seawolf Environmental Camp and ensure that a full paid scholarship is being offered to an elligible camper. Essay Title:

"Why I want to attend Seawolf Environmental Education Camp?"

For Recruitment purposes:

  • DSS will have our application forms. They will identify applicants who may be eligible to receive scholarships through them and will have you complete the form and the essay and submit it to us as indicated on the registration form.
  • DSS will inform you when you are selected based on your application, income statement, and residency.DSS and Stony Brook will ensure that you receive a full-paid scholarship to join our camp.
