Biological Sciences:

Undergraduate Biology coordinates the BIO course offerings of the departments of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Ecology and Evolution, and Neurobiology and Behavior (see below). It also offers a minor in Biology and a major leading to the B.S. degree in Biology. (Biology students may elect to pursue one of five tracks within the major: general biology, developmental genetics, ecology and evolution, environmental biology, or neuroscience.)

Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology

The Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology contributes courses in Biochemistry to the Undergraduate Biology Program. It also offers a major leading to the B.S. degree in Biochemistry, a combined B.S./M.S. program leading to both the B.S. degree in Biochemistry and the M.S. degree in Chemistry, and graduate programs of study leading to the Ph.D. degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and the Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Structural Biology.

Department of Ecology and Evolution

The Department of Ecology and Evolution contributes courses in Ecology and Evolution to the Undergraduate Biology Program. It also offers graduate programs of study leading to the M.A. degree in Biological Sciences with a Concentration in Ecology and the Ph.D. degree in Ecology and Evolution.

Department of Neurobiology and Behavior

The Department of Neurobiology and Behavior contributes courses in Neurobiology and Behavior to the Undergraduate Biology Program. It also offers graduate programs of study leading to the Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience and the combined M.D./Ph.D.degree (Medical Scientist Training Program). (The M.D./Ph.D. is offered in conjunction with Stony Brook's School of Medecine, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Brookhaven National Laboratory.)

Department of Pharmacological Sciences

The Department of Pharmacological Sciences is a department of the School of Medicine. Through the College of Arts and Sciences, however, it offers undergraduate courses in Pharmacology and a major leading to the B.S. degree in Pharmacology. The department also offers a graduate program of study leading to the Ph.D. degree in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology.
