Budget Working Group

The Budget Working Group was established by President Stanley shortly after his arrival at Stony Brook. It is a group of senior administrators, who are regularly briefed on campus-wide budget issues with the following objectives:

Provide advice and counsel to the President on potential budget strategies, including financial, managerial and political actions for his consideration.
Provide assurance that a broad variety of campus perspectives are taken into consideration.
Improve communication and transparency regarding budget issues and concerns with numerous constituent groups.
Provide a consultative group for review and approval of requests for hiring and other expenditure transaction exceptions during times of centralized restrictions.

In addition to President Stanley, members of the Budget Working Group are:

Barbara Chernow – Vice President for Facilities and Services

Lyle Gomes – Interim Vice President for Finance and Administration

Dennis Assanis – Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

Kenneth Kaushansky – Dean of the School of Medicine and Senior Vice President for Health Sciences

Mark Maciulaitis – Assistant Vice President for Budget
