Application Fee Waiver
Students applying to Stony Brook University graduate programs in the STEM disciplines may be eligible for an AGEP application fee waiver. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to contact the SUNY AGEP office to confirm their eligibility prior to submitting the application for graduate admission. Eligible students will be instructed to choose “AGEP” as the form of payment in the Apply Yourself online application system; however, non-eligible applications will be considered incomplete for non-payment, and critically delayed in its processing.
Summer Research Institute
The annual SUNY AGEP Summer Research Institute (SRI) offers qualified underrepresented undergraduates in the STEM disciplines an enriching and valuable research experience. Selected interns work under the direction and guidance of faculty members and researchers at Stony Brook University during this intensive ten-week residential program. Applications for this program are typically due early in the Spring semester.
Graduate Student Panel
In this informal workshop, current AGEP graduate students share their invaluable experiences regarding choosing a graduate school, completing the application process, working with faculty, and successfully adjusting to graduate school.
Lunch with the Dean and Graduate Program Directors
Undergraduates have the opportunity to learn from faculty and administrators what it takes to become highly competitive graduate school applicants. Students learn ways to prepare themselves while they are still undergraduates, when they are completing and submitting their admissions applications, and when they are on their prospective campuses for a visit or personal interview.
NSF is offering $30,000 annual stipends to graduate students via its Graduate Research Fellowship Program (see details here)
