College of Engineering and Applied Sciences
- Consider your major options, including Applied Mathematics & Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical & Molecular Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Science, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, and Technological Systems Management.
- Select the major that most interests you, and one in which you believe you will do well academically. Note that you must be officially admitted into your selected major, which will be based upon your academic record. If you are unsure of what major to pursue, visit the CEAS Undergraduate Student Office in 127 Engineering, and speak with an academic advisor.
- Once you have selected your intended major, familiarize yourself with the major course requirements and sequence of courses, such that you can map out your plan for completing your Stony Brook degree. Always consult the Undergraduate Bulletin for requirements and course descriptions.
- Contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies or Department Advisor (see list included in this binder) to discuss academic requirements and admissions criteria. You can call or e-mail your major advisor for an appointment, at which time you should review your transfer credits applicable toward the major and review the major requirements checklist. Bring official copies of any college-level transfer courses applicable to the major, as well as syllabi and course descriptions.
- After you are admitted to a CEAS major, visit the CEAS Undergraduate Student Office in 127 Engineering to review CEAS DEC and general education requirements.
